Tough Limited Cup team
By Kristine Crawford
Pickled Onion ran out Jeff Sanford, Tracy Metcalfe, Kevin Larson, and Jay Birkland on Saturday, September 15 for their very first defense of the Limited Cup. It was a bright, sunny day when Latitude 84’s Craig Miller, Tony Britt, Wall Saumani, and Pree Owens waltzed into a packed out Pickled Onion. Loads of anxious spectators circled the boards to cheer on both teams. It was standing-room only!
This was Tracy’s first challenge cup ever, after literally years of waiting. He was a little nervous, but excited to play.
The Pickled Onion led off the match with some very powerful darts, and in the blink of an eye, the score was 8-2.
Latitude 84 picked themselves up, dusted off their darts, and launched into some of the most intense moments in the entire match. Every game seemed to be determined by whomever could take the highest outs. After 21 games, the score was 14-7, in favor of Pickled Onion.
The next three games, while close, were dominated by the Pickled Onion, thereby putting an end to the match, 17-7.
Great Pickled Onion hospitality and good-mood food has me looking forward to next months’ Limited Cup challenge.
Way to go boys!
