Hot Shot Cup foibles
By Jennifer Wood
Well, it was a rocky start to say the least for the November Hot Shot Challenge Cup.
Dawson’s owned it and Cactus Moon was on their way down to take it away. The problem was, they were a whole week early. Both teams thought the cup was scheduled for a different day. So Cactus Moon shows up on Saturday, November 12 ready to play, but there was no Dawson’s team in sight.
Not wanting Tannon, Jae, Brandon, and Dan to have to drive all the way back north to Everett without at least getting a shot at the Cup, Dawson’s team of Stacy, Allen, Talya, and Jenny left their warm beds and headed to Dawson’s with only 20 minutes notice to defend their coveted Hot Shot Cup trophy.
I have to say, all in all, the rushing, and not having the normal hour or so to warm up and get a few beers in, left the Dawsons team a bit scattered at the start of the match.
Thank you Cactus Moon for waiting for us. They had lots of time to get toasty warm.
This was by far the most fun cup shoot I can remember in a long time. Cactus Moon was a blast to play! With the deadly husband and wife duo of Jae and Tannon, and Brandon, who kept the shots flowing like water, and Dan, oh Dan. He had us in tears, laughing the entire match.
Cactus Moon ended up beating us down with a score of 17 to 9. I think we all agreed that if we were going to lose like that, they were the team to lose to. That’s not to say the Dawson’s crew didn’t shoot well, because we did. I am so very proud of our team, but we give major props to the Cactus team - a victory well deserved. Great people that deserved a great win. I hope you hold it tight because we want to see you real soon. Congrats again on your victory of the Hot Shot Cup!
