CACTUS MOON SALOON; EVERETT, WA By Ty Hughes With $750 tossed into the pot by Cactus Moon management, there was no valid reason not to be at Everett’s major dart bar for their Trios shootout on Friday, April 11th. Faithful Cactus Mooners showed up en masse to participate and compete. Many came out simply to rub elbows with good friends and hob nob, getting away from the stresses at the office and wind down from a hectic week. Twenty four teams threw their names in the hat and began warming up at the dartboards. Of course the first stop was the bar for some of that infamous Cactus Moon culinary delight and a frosty cold beer or cocktail. The staff, though busy, always have time for a smile and a “hello” for their dart throwing buddies. The floor service is outstanding on the tournament floor, with Cactus cuties taking care of every whim of the players. Cindi Zinkand, with Joy’s help, managed the charts while shooting on a team of her own. Even Kim Pearson, Assistant Dart Coordinator, was on hand, but looked as though she desperately needed a day off. Poor girl was wiped out after a long work week, but she bucked up, hoping to bring something to the table for her team; Dave Foster and Vegas. Joy got the crazy idea to conduct an unofficial poll of the entire bar as to what their underwear preferences were. Surprisingly, or not, most were willing to prove their underwear preference with a visual account. Joy was more than happy to oblige. So, after the tally, which included 65 men surveyed, 23 wore boxers, only two preferred briefs, 26 sported boxer-briefs, while 11 went commando! And yes, the commandos were also very happy to prove it with an unabashed visual! Joy was lovin’ it. Let it be known that Mark Firestone and one other prefers the bikini variety… say what?! So the competition wore on through the night and eventually the winners emerged from the pack. They were as follows: 1st Place – Steve, Danan and Billy; 2nd Place – Mark, Ish and Cindi; and in 3rd Place – Dave, Kim and Vegas. Way to go people! The Cactus Moon is a mecca for darts in the Everett area and almost always feature the area’s best dart players ready to take you to school at the boards. On May 2nd, they’ll be hosting their monthly Birthday Shoot with $600 Added, plus another $750 Added Trios shoot on May 8th. Then on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11th, bring mom out for some dart action when they host a $500 Gtd. Added Mother’s Day Shoot. Mom gets flowers and free entry into the tournament! For all of you who aren’t hitting the road at four dollars a gallon over Memorial Day weekend, plan on spending your Memorial Sunday at the Cactus for their Red Bull sponsored $2,000 Memorial Sunday event. The fun kicks off at noon with the first of two $1,000 Added dart shoots and another one to start at 9:00pm that same evening.
