Editor’s Note

Fret not, Medalist Fall League results will be published in next month’s issue of the Medallion.

First, I’d like to thank each and every dart player, dart coordinator, location owner, operator, and Medalist team members for your friendship and loyalty to the Medallion. I truly mean it when I say, that if it weren’t for your input and interest, these pages would not be.

All the people that I’ve ever met over my eight years as acting Publisher have wriggled their way into my heart. I greatly appreciate the qualities each of you possess. I’m facsinated by all your quirky and interesting ways.

With regard to the future of darts, I’d like to say this; I believe that darts will always exist in some form or another. Change is necessary in all things and we are again on the precipice of change.

It is fact that, in order to grow, brand new players must continue to filter into the sport at the bar level.

In my humble opinion, it’s not the increased payouts that have affected the growth, it’s the player’s reaction to capitalize. There seem no limits to what some will do to get their hands on that cash. Unfortunately, this is a natural characteristic of humanity, we cannot fault anyone for chasing the money. However, by collectively changing the structure of our tournaments to create more parity, we ultimately spread the wealth more evenly, attract new players and minimize sandbagging. Three birds, one stone.

We need more Parity and/or Blind Draws and fewer Brings. This alone will effect a dramatic change in the dynamics of the sport over time. Please do your part to support this concept.
