MADISON
AVE PUB; EVERETT, WA
Ultimate
Dart Experience
Madison
Ave Pub was all play and no work
over the weekend of May 6-8 for their first annual three-day $2,000 anniversary
weekend of darts competition.
By Ty Hughes
Todd,
Cindi, Kevin and Rob packed the house with friends and acquaintances,
promising trophies and bucket-loads of cash prizes for those interested
in participating.
It was a weekend of familiar faces and playful communion between players
and casual patrons of the Madison Ave Pub. The door hinges got quite a
workout allowing hundreds of dart players to enter a packed out pub Friday
night, all day Saturday and Sunday, each with similar goals; fun, darts
and money!
Rob had the sound system primed and most of the dart players gave it a
go at the karaoke mic. Cindi, Kevin and Todd oversaw the general flow
of the weekend’s event, making sure it was a positive experience
for those in attendance. The outdoor beer garden was enjoyed by everyone.
As the beer poured continuously from the taps and the kitchen staff worked
feverishly to meet the demands of their hungry guests, Cindy and Todd
gave away incredible prize packages to several lucky ticket holders. Our
own, Sean McGee, walked away with a killer home DVD system. Also given
away were Mariner tickets, EMP tickets, Pacific Science Center tickets,
not to mention, plenty of darts and supplies.
Occupying an out-of-the-way corner were several beautiful trophies up
for grabs, proving to be an incentive to throw with uncanny accuracy.
It was everyone’s goal to enter the hallowed halls of fame that
weekend at the Madison by being the top point earner for the weekend.
Points were handed out for player achievements and participation.
Friday night featured a $500 Gtd. Added shoot, and random Quick 8’s
filled in the lulls, of which there were none. Saturday was a full day
of prize giveaways, Quick 8’s, music, karaoke and three dart shoots
totaling $1,000 Gtd. Added cash giveaways. The Madison was party central
and festive all day.
The points were stacking up for several players and the readerboard kept
the tally displaying the leaders for the weekend. By Sunday’s 1pm
Trophy Shoot, the top 16 point earners were revealed and welcomed to enter
the final coup de gras for the weekend, boasting yet another $500 Gtd.
Added dart shoot. These would be the fortunate few who would get their
crack at the wall of awaiting trophies.
These
were the top point earners for the weekend:
For the boys:
Rob Bramblett
Kevin Williams
Todd Stanger
Lloyd Agee
For
the girls:
Cindi Zinkand-Bramblett
Kristi Ragland
Dani Gordon
Faith Britton
Jackie Doring
In
the end, it was Faith Britton and Ed Jackson taking third place, Tammy
Jean and Sean McGee in second place and Lloyd Agee and Buster Bustamante
to finally take the crown and become Madison’s first annual $2,000
Anniversary Champions.
Congratualtions to everyone involved, all the service staff and especially
to the players and participants. Thanks for a great weekend of darts and
fun, we can’t wait for next year’s big event which ought to
be bigger and better, if that’s possible.
