Toms Thumbs take top spot in Masters, again

Dateline: December 2005; because of unforeseen circumstances, the top two teams in the Masters A Division are forced to move the match to the next night. It was Tuesday, a day that will live in infamy (or at least a few people will remember it).

Daves Dynamos and Toms Thumbs squaring off for the crown, one game separating the two veteran squads. What questions were being asked? Can Dave shoot another 5.0? Can Tom lead a team to two in a row, something not done since 1999? Would Rymer be a factor or a non-factor? Would Slivka dial it in or be a rod away? Does Kurt look more like Zorro or Burt Reynolds? And who played Luke on General Hospital?

Answers would come quickly, although not in any order. They were: no but close, yes, non-factor, a rod away in 01, not bad in Cricket, Zorro and Tony Geary.

If you cant figure it out sorry, I will not explain. Toms Thumbs looked more like McCartney and Wings as they flew by the Diminished Dominos. The crowd of hundreds (okay, a couple drunk dart players with no lives) cheered wildly throughout the night (okay, a couple times).

It was Tom McCartneys second crown as captain, a feat not accomplished in 16 seasons. Although Dave couldnt power his team to victory, he did have a record setting season with four weeks over a 5.0. This earned him not only the Top Gun, but the Most Valuable Player Award as well. This has only happened twice before and it was by Rick Kerska and John Gray.

The winning team of Tom, Van Williams, Kurt Gonzalez, and JR Castillo (no, Tom didnt pass on a first round pick) got $1,500 and Dart Masters collectors watches for their efforts. Third by default was Petes Dragons and rounding out the money winners was Hicks Hemorrhoids coming from last to fourth in two weeks. Great shooting to all and be sure to sign-up for the next league.

Happy New Year
