SixShooters second Mixed Mixed another huge success
By Mike Bates
SixShooters on 35th Ave. and Peoria hosted a $400 Added mixed doubles dart tournament, the second tournament of its kind, on Saturday, January 28th.
Why was this different from other events? First, it was a $400 Guaranteed Added, with no minimum number of players. Is that crazy or what?
No, no it wasnt! If you add it, they will come. Isnt that what the movie says (or something like that anyway)? Well they did, and they did!
Next, you had some criteria to meet; you had to sign up as two players, one must be a female and one must be a male. Still nothing different? Well here was the twist the person that you signed up with was not necessarily your partner. You would have to draw each other to play together.
So, 48 players, 24 men and 24 women, would draw to see who their partner was. It was great! You ask why so many people came to play in this type of tournament? Here are some reasons:
Many dart players and their girlfriends or wives play darts, but many do not play well together. So, this is perfect for that scenario. Also, it would be pretty evenly match most of the time.
With a payout at $880 and the great SixShooters staff taking care of everyone, you would think that would be enough. Wrong! Another new innovation was brought in to spice things up a splash shot; three rounds, throwing two darts at the same time, highest score wins the pot.
Three names were drawn and the winner was Kevin Rowe, with a score of 92. For his efforts, he received $168. And, like the commercial that keeps adding more, there is more.
Every person who attended got their name on a ticket for a drawing to be held the week before the NDA tournament. Someone will win $200, and paid neither a dime or a dollar.
Yes, from now until late April, you show up at SixShooters for a dart tournament (Wednesday, Saturday or Special Event) and you will receive another opportunity at the cash. That is going the extra mile for the players.
Oh, by the way, the $400 winners of the tournament were: Wendi Stone and Mike Bates (yes she carried me).
