Masters League Holds Banquet At Sixshooters

After yet another great season, the Master A and B League players got together to celebrate, hand out awards, and show what they can do on the boards. The total payout would be $1,700 and eight teams would share in the cash.

On paper, it would appear that Pete Linaris and the Wizard were the team of destiny - the top gun and a world-class player. But, as we all know, you don't play the tourney on paper.

Besides, could Pete still be reeling from his double dipping in the Joe's Grotto tournament, and was the Wizard's wand up to the task? They shot great but Tom Hicks and Mike Westling put them away and they ended with the Bronze Medal. (For those slow of the brain, they got third).

Hicks and Westling would take on Pickle Boy, Rick Kerska, and former B League MVP, Anthony Johnson. According to some sources, Rick has been off his game a little and Anthony wasn't playing much lately.

So, could the hot shooting homos, (just kidding, it sounded good) take down the world champ and a rusty B player? Not. Mike and Tom shot awesome all night, especially against me (that's where the homo comes in), but couldn't bring it home, and Rick returned to form to pound them. The pay off was $600 for the first spot and $400 for second. The Painting Scooter Pies (Jay Moredock and Van Williams) finished fourth.

The banquet was held at Sixshooters and they not only provided lots of cash, but great food and great service. Tobin did a great job with the TD duties and even ran a trivia contest on the side. Troy Vending provided the boards, Tobin, sponsor money and lots more, as always

A great thank you to both the Sixshooters employees and the Troy Vending staff who make these events possible.
