Arizona Open Breaks Every Record On Books

Arizona Open X, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 4-6 at SixShooters in Peoria, was bigger and better than in years past, thanks to everyone who contributed to its complete success.
First, there were 10 more boards than the usual 30. Not only were there more boards, but with great wisdom and foresight, Troy Vending's, Scott North, came up with the ultimate plan. With the NDA World Championships coming to Las Vegas next month, Scott made a deal with Arachnid to send us 25 brand new, still in the box Galaxy II dart boards. There were a couple minor catches, but it was well worth it.
Scott went the distance, offering to rent a truck and drive the boards up to Vegas for the NDA tournament. But not all the boards, because in order to get them, Troy Vending had to agree to buy 10 of them. What an awesome gesture! That is a lot of cash to insure that all the players have a great tournament.
On top of that, the boards still had to be assembled. Scott, Tobin, Dave Schultz (Arachnid) and Marty Scarborough did most of the set up. Hours of planning and work went into making sure we had the best tournament to date.
It was not over for those four guys either. Scott, Dave, Tobin and Mick (Troy Vending) ran all the charts to perfection. Sometimes with five levels and lots of players. Tobin, who doesn't always get the credit he deserves, gave up playing for the whole weekend to make sure it was a success.
Marty sold hundreds of dollars worth of tickets, as usual. He and his son, Michael, sold them all weekend. A big thanks to all these guys.
More thanks to the ladies: Kris Gilmore, Pam Nordhus, Beth Kuehl and Teresa North. They, as usual, took sign-ups and whatever else was needed (almost). I cannot thank them enough.
Kurt Gonzalez brought his awesome sound system and with help from little buddy, Scott Calcagni, had it set up perfectly. If you didn't hear your board call, you definitely weren't paying attention.
Along with the new Arachnids, Tim, from azopen Vending brought three Spectrum boards loaded with the new kits, cameras and loads of new games. Many had fun on those boards.
JR Castillo and the Six-Shooters staff were more prepared than ever. They arrived early and stayed late. The best place to have a great dart tournament was even better. You can find a room big enough to handle this tournament, but you will never find a better place that understands and has the patience for an event this large.
When you have that many people drinking in one place, it takes the right attitude to keep control. The Sixshooters staff has mastered that.
Thanks also to all the sponsors who made the payouts that much better. Without them it just doesn't happen.
