Darts historian, Patrick Chaplin to publish Trina Gulliver's life story

Winmau-sponsored, seven-times World Women's Darts Champion, Trina Gulliver has joined forces with Darts Historian, Patrick Chaplin, more commonly know as Dr. Darts', to produce a unique record of her life.

Shortly after working with three-time World Champion John Lowe on his autobiography, Old Stoneface, Patrick approached Trina with the idea of writing her life story. They entered into discussions and work began in September 2005. The book is now complete and is being prepared for publication.

Patrick, whose historical research into darts is supported by Winmau, said recently, It has been great piecing together Trina's story. It's been hard work but fun. Trina said, I've thoroughly enjoyed working with Patrick. We met several times during late 2005 and recorded over twelve hours of interviews. Since then it's been a case of writing up and clarifying issues with him. Nothing - absolutely nothing - has gone into the book that I have not approved. Patrick added, Trina's a great subject and I'm sure the book will appeal not only to dart players and darts enthusiasts but also to anyone interested in sports biographies.

As the first-ever autobiography of a woman darts player, Trina's book is unique. Trina reveals how she has achieved unprecedented success in a sport where the men's game far outstrips the women's in terms of press attention, sponsorship and TV exposure. Trina said, I reveal much about the tension and frustrations felt within the women's game for proper recognition and reward. The book is all about me succeeding in a man's world against the odds, but it's also much, much more.

Sponsorship has been one of the keys to Trina's amazing success and the Winmau Dartboard Company has been proud to be associated with Trina for nearly ten years. Sales and Marketing Director, Ian Flack said, Back in 1998, Winmau recognised the mutual benefits to be derived from working with Trina. Since then we have worked closely together and Trina's extraordinary success has brought kudos not only to the company and of course to Trina herself, but also to women's darts in general. Trina is a unique success story and she continues to deliver for us time and time again.

Trina's autobiography, The Golden Girl The Autobiography of the World's Greatest Ladies' Darts Player' is to be published by John Blake Publishing of London. Whilst the exact date of publication has yet to be confirmed, information will be featured on Trina's website www.trinagulliver.net and on Patrick's website www.patrickchaplin.com.

Ian added, It is certainly envisaged that promotional material, if not the book itself, will be available in time for the Winmau World Masters in October and our company will do what we can to bring Trina's unique work to the attention of everyone in the darts world.
