Tricks
to your outs
Here’s a few helpful
tricks to make your game easier
When you are left with a double dart sequence in your
out round, you can play smart darts by keeping the double shot together.
For example, if shooting a 130 out, a safe way would be to shoot Bull-Bull-D15.
A 154 would be Bull-Bull-T18. And so on.
The exception to this rule is if you have a single number in the series
- such as a 106. You would be best to shoot a Bull-6-Bull,
which has a very limited chance of ‘busting’.
The next thing to think about, as you expand your strategy,
is to start working on the numbers from 49 on down. This is where you
can win or lose a match!
You should always take these numbers out the same way. This will build
your confidence and develop your consistency.
A key point is to set up for an even number third dart with your first
dart (remember that odd+odd=even). But, try to keep your shots in the
same area of the board. For example, a 49 out would call for either a
S19-D15 (bottom of the board) or S9-D20 (top of the board).
Some numbers don’t apply to the odd/even rule, such as a 35. It
may be best to shoot a S16-S19; but, if you followed the rule, you’d
hit a S17-S18.
Set up your out rounds while still in the ‘200 club’.
At that distant point from an out, you can begin manipulating the score
to fit your favorite darts. As you build your confidence, it’ll
be easier to make those outs.
Try these ideas. They do work. Happy hunting!
