Womens Cup at Dawson’s
Womens Cup at Dawson’s
By Joseph Mathias
On Saturday, April 10, O’Henry’s cruised on up the hill to challenge Dawson’s reigning Women’s Cup champions.
Playing for O’Henry’s was Beverly Rhoades, Deanne Johnson, Charlie Youngchild, and Holly Wolf. Defending the Women’s Cup for Dawson’s was Kelly Pappuza, Stacey Gustafson, Angie Bakko, and Jenny Wood.
The match started off with a bang as Kelly would quickly hit the first Hat Trick of the match and then took out a 45 to win the game. Dawson’s team continued on their hot shooting streak as they quickly extended their lead to 3-0.
Even though Dawson’s continued to score big darts, O’Henrys’ Deanne and Holly showed off some big darts of their own as they helped their team to their first win, 3-1 Dawson’s. Both teams continued to shoot well, but it would be Dawson’s team that would pull away with a 5-1 lead.
Later, with Deanne’s Low Ton and Charlie’s 47 out, O’Henry’s scored another win, bringing the score to 5-2 after seven games. In yet another close game, after another Low Ton from Deanne, O’Henry’s took game eight. Kelly would fire right back and win game nine to make it 6-3.
In game ten, it looked to be another down-to-the-last-dart kind of close game, but Beverly wouldn’t hear of it. taking the game out with two Bulls and a D11 to bring the score to 6-4.
Game 11 went pretty much the same way, even though Kelly was robbed of what appeared to be a Hat Trick. Dawson’s eventually won the game and extended their lead to 7-4. The next two games looked alot like the Beverly show as she took out a 104 to win one, and nearly hit a 3-In-The-Black in the next game to win two in a row and get the match back to within just one game, 7-6.
Every Cricket game seemed to go to 400-500 points, but Dawson’s showed why they are still the champs, winning six of the next seven games to extend their lead to 13-7. Even though O’Henry’s fought hard and kept the games close, it seemed Dawson’s just couldn’t miss their outs.
Dawson’s team went on to win the last four games and take the match 17-8. It was a close match if you look at the individual games, because the score doesn’t reflect how easily the match could of gone either way.
Congratulations to Dawson’s on yet another victorious day featuring the Women’s Cup challenge. Great shooting by both teams!
