Sporty’s kicks off summer tournament series

By Ty Hughes

Sporty’s Beef and Brew on Everett’s Evergreen Way is committed to a summer-long series of monthly tournament offerings designed to make you a winner!

Once a month, usually around mid-month, throughout the summer, Sporty’s will host an exciting $500 Added dart shoot and you’re all welcome to attend. Recently Sporty’s announced Chris Mackie as their dart coordinator. A party animal in his own rite, Chris was reportedly on a camping trip out of town during their first tournament on Saturday, May 23rd. Way to go, Mackie! Jeez man! It really didn’t matter anyway, because we had a blast without him.

Norm Wold of NW Darts, ran the charts and signed up twelve teams for the night. A bit lower than expected, but we decided that Memorial Weekend had many of you out of town for various reasons. Jack, Sporty’s co-owner, even played in the tournament, but didn’t have much luck.

One thing about Sporty’s is you can always expect great service from the cocktailers as they regularly travel all the way across the bar to the dedicated dart room. The food is awesome, the music is loud and proud, and the people are incredibly nice and easy to meet. They’ve got tons of television monitors everywhere, plus a humongous ten-foot big screen with all your sporting events, all the time.

Sporty’s is a big sponsor of the local ice hockey team, the Silvertips. Go to a game and you’ll hear Sporty’s Beef and Brew named repeatedly over the loud speakers. They also host a UW Huskies party bus during the games, which allows you to imbibe to your heart’s content and stay off the road for an optimum survival rate.

Joe and Jack, owners, are committed to running a $500 Added shoot once a month and hope to see you come out and jump into the action. If you get lucky, or not, Chris Mackie may even be around to run things like he said he would. Just kiddin’ buddy, you know we love ya! Hope you enjoyed your camping trip. You could make it a lot easier on the rest of us if you brought us some freshly caught lake trout though, you know, in the spirit of keeping us in the “family circle”.

Sporty’s first tournament came to a close around 12:30am when Bill and Max snagged fourth place and twenty bucks to split between them. KC and Jimmy, down from Bellingham, secured a third place finish and took home eighty bucks. They weren’t about to make the trip back up north, so they were prepared to crash out on Brian Arganti’s floor. Good to see you guys!

In the final match for the evening, Brian and Chris fell to Juan and Rick, stuffing an extra $180 in their pockets for their efforts. Juan and Chris were aptly named champions, and became $380 richer.

Sporty’s is your home for darts in Everett and they will do whatever it takes to keep you happy and coming back for more. Keep your eyes on their ad in the Medallion for dates, times, etc. The next big shoot at Sporty’s will be on Saturday, June 13th.
