Rung Up In Vegas Baby!
Rung Up In Vegas Baby!

Welcome to Ringer’s and your chance to win a free trip to beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada! That’s right, Ringer’s Bar & Grill in Mountlake Terrace hosted a Singles shoot to wrap up their big, ongoing Get Rung Up In Vegas promotion on Saturday, June 5.
The event was invitation only to those that had earned enough points during the past several months of qualifiers. Plus, they decided to let anybody who was there on time to play as well.
The winner would be rewarded with round-trip airfare, hotel and entry fees into the Medalist World Championships at Las Vegas later this summer. Darren Bohland coordinated the event and signed up thirty-six players with ratings were as high as 17, and as low as two. Some big-name players out for a shot at the prize packade included, Brian Smith, Dave Breese, Mike Williams, Ed Winkle, John Husmann, Todd Jordan, and others. The format was best three-out-of-five, double elimination, ‘01 and Cricket.
Along with all the goods for winning the tournament, there was also a cash payout of $50, plus the trip to Vegas going to 1st place, $140 for 2nd place, $110 for 3rd place, $60 for 4th, $40 for 5th, and $20 6th.
R Bar’s Terrance came out to try his luck at a free trip to Vegas. But like so many others, Terrance went two-and-out. But he did it with a great attitude.
By 10:15pm, seven of the 36 had been eliminated and the bar was still hopping along pretty good. Seattle Sounders fans began to arrive, all jazzed for the best soccer team in the country won with a 3-0 win
“We won”, screamed Kathy and Kristy, who wouldn’t give their last names. “We’ve never been here to Ringer’s before”, they told me later. And like any other sport, they got a chance to see some great dart players shoot some great matches.
The midnight hour brought with it a match between John Husmann and Dave Breese. John started off with a Hat Trick, Dave fallow with a High Ton. The match was definitely on and within fifteen minutes, John took the match 3-1, moving Dave into the loser’s bracket.
Todd Jordan took on Dave Breese next. It would take a White Horse and five games to decide who goes on and who goes home. Todd handed Dave a 5th Place finish. With that victory, Jack stickles walked up to Todd and planted a big ol’ kiss right on his lips! Ugh! The alcohol was starting to take effect.
It came down to the final four players; John Husmann took on Brian Smith for the Driver’s Seat, and Todd Jordan took on Nick Emmel in the loser’s bracket. Nick ended up in 4th Place, and finishing in 3rd place was Brian Smith, the highest point earner for the whole promotion. The final match with John vs. Todd was an exciting prospect.
Game one was 501 and John took it with little to spare. The next Cricket game came down to one Bullseye which John nailed. He threw a 17 rating in that one!
The third game was ’01 and Todd was looking to get to even. He pounded out a few Hat Tricks right off the start, and pulled off the win.
Game four was Cricket, and like all the other games featuring John and Todd, it was exciting to watch. Todd won the Cricket game, tying up the match, two apiece.
Since John was in the Driver’s Seat, winning game five would shut the door on Todd once and for all. Todd battled and came out on top, sending the match in to the 2nd round.
By now it was 3am and the crowd of twenty or so never took their eyes off the boards.
The first ’01 game went to Todd, while John took the Cricket game with a flurry of Triples. Seeming a bit fatigued, they launched into the third game of ’01, which Todd chalked up in the win column.
Of course John took game four, sending the match to the final game to determine a winner. The last game was absolute madness, peppered with Trips and White Horses. And in the end, after an amazing display, John took the match, the trip, the fifty bucks, and a whole new respect for Todd Jordan and his darts.
Congrats to John Husman, enjoy your Vegas trip on Ringers! And thanks to everyone who came out in support, Ringer’s hopes to see you again real soon.
