Good times, great fun, back at the R Bar
By Terrance Carter
Here ye! Here ye!
Once again we are about to start a new chapter of darts and fun at your local R Bar and Grill. Our Fall season is shaping up to be a fun and exciting adventure in darts.
The dart coordinating team, headed up by yours truly, along with Brian Buxton and Krystal Hargan is looking forward to another season at the R Bar. We have enjoyed the time, atmosphere, and friendships we’ve made and seen develop over the last two seasons. Our wide assortment of players ranging in age, skill-level, and crazy antics are sure to suit the needs of anyone wishing to experience darts with splash of excitement. Don’t just take my word for it, come out and experience it for yourself.
Every Friday, we host a $300 Gtd. Added dart tournament, and bump it up to $500 Added with eighteen teams or more. The tournament is a Medley format with a 20 point team max, female bonus point, handicap (12 marks max), and of course, a start time of 8:30pm, unless it is a Cricket Only shoot, then start time is 8pm. It’s been a rarity not to have the $500 added on our normal Friday night shoot, so come on out, we would love to have you.
Darts is a big part of the bar scene at the R Bar, but we also have a wide assortment of adult beverages, plus great food that is sure to attack your taste buds and reach that enjoyable fulfillment level for your tummy.
The bar staff consists of a great bunch of guys and girls. On Fridays, Candi, Dan, and Jenna take your needs and wants and turn them into realities. It’s like winning the lottery, they do a damn good job. During the day and the night shift during the week, we’ve got Terri, Becky, and the exciting Deb. If you’re wondering why she’s so exciting, I’d suggest showing up on a weeknight and you’ll know what I mean.
We have several video games, pool tables, big screens, pull tabs, and a newly-built outdoor smoking area that will help keep your interest alive between matches or during league.
Speaking of league, it’s just around the corner. Sign-ups close on September 13, 2009 and we would love for you, your friends, family, co-workers, and you’re your enemies to come down and join our community of players. League play begins the week of October 4, 2009. Most of you already know, but for those who just happened to pick up this fine newspaper at your local watering hole, Leagues run Sunday through Thursday nights and will have a wide range of levels and options for two or three-player teams. So whether you are newbie, a bar fly, or a skilled professional, we have a spot for you at the R Bar. If you’re thinking “I’d like to play, but I don’t know who to shoot with” – come up to the bar on a Friday or call (425) 228-7811 and ask for Terrance. If I’m not there, just leave a message and one of the bar staff will contact me. I would be more than happy to find you a partner or team that you will have fun with and enjoy at any level.
And now, time for your local news:
R Bar has some kudos to throw out there. First, I would like to say congrats to Brian and Stephanie on their marriage. It’s been a long time coming you two, but well worth the wait. A double congrats to Eddie and Amanda, not only on getting married, but also the expectation of a new addition to their family coming in the near future. Hopefully, the child will have Amanda’s looks and Eddie’s darts?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ joking! We hope all of you have long and happy marriages.
Kudos also goes out to the R Bar/Wah Long co-ed softball team. We came, we saw, we had great times. The team of dart players, friends, and families came out and showed the local southend Seattle league what we could do on the field of dreams. The team didn’t make the finals, but gave it all we had to get the job done, finishing 3rd in the league.
Now to the challenge cup scene:
R Bar recently acquired the ’01 Master Out Cup from a formidable opponent, the Home Plate in Tacoma. Jay, Eddie, Terrance, and Krystal took to the boards against Jim, Frank, Louie, and Stacy on Sunday, July 19. It was quite a battle to witness. Darts were a thing of beauty that day. I would love to say that I played a major roll, but I was asleep until the last two games. With more cups to come, we hope that you come out, join the house, and take a shot at some of the local challenge cups available.
I would like to give thanks to all that have come out and supported the program and the bar to this point. We hope that you would continue to do so in the future. Before I sign off, I have one more “Thanks” that I would personally like to throw out there. This one goes to Sean, the owner of R Bar. Sean has been a key figure in building the current dart program at R Bar. He may not be there in front of the cameras, taking the credit, but he has given us copious amounts of behind-the-scene support, and financial backing to make R Bar darts come alive again.
