A Redneck Playground
By Ty Hughes
Friday, May 18 was all about getting the redneck out at the Pied Piper in Kent. Shooters from all over the area gathered at the bar dressed in wife-beaters, muddy boots, black eyes, black teeth, curlers, baseball caps, overalls, and well, you know where I’m going with that. Dee was celebrating her birthday tonight too, with about 50 of her closest friends.
It’s always a rip-snortin’ party atmosphere at the Pied Piper. Somebody said to me, “I love it here, because there’s never any drama, just good times.”
And whether you’re a redneck for real, or you just play one, aren’t we all really just out for a good time? Somewhere we can hang out with friendly people, without all the drama?
Miles signed up 17 teams that night, so apparently the Kent Valley likes the idea of playing redneck. Who knew?
They covered up the shuffleboard game and covered the table with a redneck potluck. There were powdered donuts, chocolate chip cookies, brownies, tons of junk food, oh yeah, can’t forget about that fried chicken!
The boards were covered in burlap, so darts was a real guessing game. Everybody had an incredible night out, and we just might see this theme pop up again in the future.
