Mixed Limited Mixup
By Joseph Mathias
Saturday, September 25, the afternoon sun was shining bright, not a cloud in the sky. Terrance Carter, Shawn Trotignon, Mercy Barayoga and Tammy Bouslaugh drove up from the R Bar to challenge Wah Long for the Mixed Limited Cup.
Marlin Jones, Kailee Cha, Kal Gunter and Mina Bear would defend their cup for Wah Long. Now things should get real interesting considering Mina and Mercy are mother and daughter… so a little family rivalry in the mix, could be fun. And they wouldn’t disappoint either, they were jawing back and forth the whole match.
Shawn quickly took control of the match, opening with back-to-back Hat Tricks. He left Mercy an easy out, who would seemingly be the team’s closer. Mina and Marlin fired back, both hitting Low Tons before Marlin quietly took it out to tie the match up, 1-1.
Shawn continued to heat up, hitting a 7-count followed by a 5-count to bring his team up by one. But Mina would tie it right up again with a pair of 6-counts.
R Bar would go on to win the next five games. All four players from R Bar had big rounds, they took a 5-2 lead in the match and maintained their three-game lead after 19 games.
The most entertaining round was in game 15, dubbed “Ali vs. Frazier” by Terrance and Marlin. Terrance opened with a 7-count, and Marlin answerd with a 3-In-A-Bed. Terrance answered with a 9-count that eventually set up the knockout punch and “Down goes Frazier”! Rbar leads 11-8. Mercy continued with her clean-up duties and R Bar won games 20 and 21 to stretch their lead, 13-8. Here comes Mina, roaring back to make it 13-9.
R Bar put on a Cricket clinic in games 23 and 24 when everyone was hitting 4-counts or better. But Wah Long hung right in there, those Cricket games were going to 500 and 600 points each. Despite their efforts, R Bar took a 15-9 lead.
Marlin took over in game 25, and they won the game handily, in spite of Shawn’s 3-In-A-Bed last ditch efforts. Wah Long takes one back, 15-10. their effort was thwarted though as
R Bar took the next two games to win the match, 17-10. Great effort guys and good games.
Congrats to Terrance and his R Bar team, they will happily take the trophy and bragging rights back to Renton with them.
Thanks to Kenny, Jimmy, and sister for the outstanding service! Hope to see you again soon.
