Welcome to CLOUD 9′S CORNER

By Rick Clark

Ike and the Cloud 9 staff would like to thank everyone who continues to make Cloud 9 their extended family and home away from home. We appreciate your faithfulness and dedication, keeping Cloud 9 the #1 dart house in the world!

Cloud 9 is trying something new; a $500 Added w/20 teams, parity draw dart tournament every Friday night. We started running parity draw tournaments in October to interest the new and lower-rated players and they have been very successful. Being a skeptic of parity draws in the past, I have found a new appreciation for them. The parity draws increase the interest of the lower-rated players because they get matched up with the higher-rated players, the mid-range players get matched up with other mid-range shooters and the high-rated players get to pass on their knowledge of the game to the new, lower-rated and up and comers. Our parity draw tourneys have only increased the “family” chemistry of the bar and the players. We are continuing to run the $500 Added brings on Saturdays with a 20 point cap, female bonus point, and a max handicap of 12.

On Saturday, October 11, we held a Cricket Only tourney run by Robert (the gimp) Brown who signed up sixteen teams which included six Grand Masters; John Husman, Peter Clark, Larry Mead, Melvin Cherry, Dave Bresee and Dane Schur from Spokane. It turned out to be a great night with a lot of great darts and everybody was up for challenging these guys. But in the end, it was John and Cindy who beat Larry and Naomi in the finals to finish 1st and 2nd respectively.

We (Ike, Rick, Robert, Tia and the bar staff) would like to say thank you and good luck to all of our league teams. Cloud 9 is proud to say we have 53 teams for the Fall season and appreciate every single one of them! We would also like to thank the Grand Masters that have chosen to shoot for Cloud 9 this season. We know you have your choice of locations to shoot from and we appreciate that you are with us here at Cloud 9. Thanks to John Husman (15), Peter Clark (15), Larry Mead (14) and David Foster (14).

The place is packed during most league nights especially on Sundays and Thursdays, when all nine boards are full. Please come out and join us at Cloud 9 for our $500 Parity Draw on Fridays and our $500 Brings on Saturdays. We will also be having a couple of special events on Saturdays this month, so remember to check out our ad for all the details. Here’s a tickler:

Saturday, November 15 – $1,100 Payout Trios w/20 Teams and Saturday, November 29 – $400 Gtd. Added Birthday Shoot.

Happy Birthday to longtime Cloud 9 faithful, Crispun Walkama! Also celebrating birthdays this month are Jesse Edwards, Rhonda Zuraff and Dan Carchano.

If you haven’t experienced Cloud 9 yet, we would like to extend a special invitation to you all. Join us for dancing with the best dance music in the Southend with DJ Headline Monday through Saturday, dart tournaments Friday and Saturday nights, pool, great food and great drinks. Our bar staff and security are second to none! See you soon!
