Black Tie at Channel Marker

By Ty Hughes

“Everywhere that Traci went, her lambs were sure to go!”

Get it? Y’know, cuz Traci’s last name is Lamb, and her players follow her wherever?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ ah, nevermind.

The point is, that Traci Lamb-Ewing, Channel Marker’s dart coordinator extraordinaire, had been planning a very special formal darting event, indigenous to her dart home, wherever that may be. Currently, of course, that “home” for Traci is none other than the fabulous Channel Marker on the Edmond’s waterfront.

Many of you are familiar with Traci’s creative tournament concoctions over the years. One in particular that has stood out in everyone’s memory was her incredible penchant for a formal dart night. A concept where everybody gets all dressed up in tux and tails and long, flowing gowns, they get their hair all done up and break out the best jewelry. It’s like prom night for darts. Simply amazing to see.

One by one, the couples arrived at the Channel Marker, dressed to the nines. The guys, looking so regal, escorted their best girl to the door. The girls, purely angelic, enjoyed the pageantry and formality of the occasion. Everyone was so beautiful, every hair in place ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú just gorgeous!

Jan, Channel Marker’s owner, had created a special Valentine’s dinner menu for the event; Prime Rib, NY Steak or Sirloin with salmon or scampi, baked potato and fresh veggies for just $16 each. Channel Marker, being well-known for their incredible food, stepped up and helped create a memorable experience with this special dinner menu. We specifically waited to have dinner until we arrived at Channel Marker just for that reason. Needless to say, the entire dinner was flawless. Jan said she went through nearly two full Prime Rib roasts that evening alone!

There were a bunch of folks all decked out for Traci’s signature event, plus a bunch more that, for one reason or another, didn’t get all spiffed up, but came to play anyway. Once the tournament got underway and a few matches in, Traci stopped the tournament for a chance to parade the fashions around the room and vote on your favorites. Shortly after an entertaining fashion show, the tournament resumed and the ballot box was open. A bit later, Traci called everyone’s attention to announce the anticipated results of the voting. Congratulations to the following on being awarded for best dressed that night:

Best Dressed Female:
1st Place ($25); Mandy
2nd Place ($10); Nicole

Best Dressed Male:
1st Place ($25); Mike
2nd Place ($10); Keith

Best Dressed Couples:
1st Place ($25); Mike and Traci
2nd Place ($10); Justin and Nicole

Way to go, guys! Thanks for taking the time to make this night such an enchantment, your efforts were appreciated by all of us.

Later that evening, everyone was feeling the love and joined together on the dance floor to show off their moves. The music and dancing completed the ambiance for the formal affair and provided some good-natured laughter and entertainment.

Special thanks to Jan for donating the prize money, and a big thanks to Traci for planning and executing yet another fantastic formal event for the dedicated dart players.

Hopefully next year will be even bigger and better, but it’s pretty hard to improve on perfection!
