Casey’s brings the heat

By Ty Hughes

Casey’s Grill and Sportsbar has recently changed hands. Longtime dart player, Jim Crabtree and the infamous Brad Bogart took over the bar just a few months back. Previous owners, Karl and Cliff had reportedly received an offer on the place that they just couldn’t pass up. So they’re off to other pastures, and Jim and Brad pick up where they left off, setting their sights on good things to come to Casey’s on Kent’s East Hill.

Jim and Brad met decades ago at Brad’s first bar in downtown Seattle, Bogarts on Second. It was then and there that Jim, and the rest of the natural world, became hooked on the game of darts. The rest, as they say, is history. Or is it?

Today, Jim and Brad hope to write a new chapter. Casey’s appealed to them as a business venture, and they’re ready to make a go of it. But they desperately need your help. They are calling all dart players and bar-goers alike to rise up and walk ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú no, drive to Casey’s with darts in hand and an aching in your heart ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú no, stomach. Because they want to feed you. Not just with actual food, though the food here has always been top-notch, but they want to feed you with the intangibles. Things like friendship, camaraderie, the fulfilling swell of competition, the rise and fall of emotion, and philosophical compatibility. Yes, they have all that and more to offer you.

However, they cannot help you if you’re not willing to help yourself. Where have you heard that before? They are counting on you taking the initiative to slide your butt through their front doors and maintain a pliable heart. Just be open to the possibilities once you walk in. Someone might come up to you and say hello. Maybe even ask you to play a round on the boards. Now, if this sounds unbearable, then maybe you haven’t got the fortitude to visit a place like Casey’s ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú you should probably just stay home. Meanwhile, all your friends with fortitude are chillin’ at the bar, laughing from their bellies, cavorting like it was the final days, whetting their whistles with the coldest of brews. They are enjoying new friendships, and old ones.

The offer does not merely end there. If you find your way into Casey’s on Kent’s East Hill, you just might find yourself singing, not just to the tune in your heart, but on an actual microphone, like, in front of other people?¢‚Ǩ¬¶ to other people. It’s karaoke with Greg Cameron every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night at Casey’s.

Jim has continued some Casey’s traditions, ie: Barstool Bingo every Tuesday and Wednesday. Plus, once monthly, on a special evening to be announced ahead of time, Jim and the gang will host special presentations, the likes of live comedy and live music. Last month, they packed the house for a unique musical performance that brought the house down.

Bottom line, get in here and change your destiny. You need this. You deserve it.
