Trios at Cactus

By Ty Hughes

Paul, Robyn and the rest of the “inner-circle” at Cactus Moon were on their annual junket to Mexico on March 13th, leaving Teresa Hestkind to run the dart tournaments in their absence.

Teresa had some help with the tournament however. Kim stepped up and managed not one, but two Quick 8 tournaments during the main shoot, for those getting knocked out early in the main. Advertised was a $750 Added Trios shoot based on 16 teams. Though they didn’t quite meet the sixteen-team minimum, they did get fourteen, so the bar kicked in $600 to the pot, bringing the payout to $810 in cold, hard cash, baby!

Those bad boys from the Tacoma area, Ken and James came all the way out to Everett and teamed up with Betty to school the rest of the field. They wound up playing in the finals match against Jeff Jr., Mary and Ray, who came rushing out of the loser’s bracket. Ken and James, as a dart team, feel they’ve got a target on their backs in Tacoma after having beaten most of their opponents, so they’ve taken their game on the road. It seems to be quite a pairing too, because they’re getting the same results up north. Way to go, guys!

The two teams finally split the winnings rather than play the match, which was fine with everybody. The final payout between the six players was $630. In third place, Dennis, Tami and Margaret snagged $120, while Jason, Eric and Danni landed fourth place and sixty bucks!

Danny and Chari came out for some dart fun, and Chari made it clear that she was back into darts and wanted to keep working on her game.

After ordering my standard chicken wings whenever I visit Cactus Moon, I couldn’t help but notice all the flippin’ television monitors upstairs. There are so many flat screens, they’re practically mounted on top of each other! I don’t think, if you’re a sports fan, that you’ll have any problem finding the game you want to see on one of the TVs at Cactus.

March, like every month at Cactus, brings a ton of scheduled dart shoots. Not to mention three weekly dart shoots, including Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. So, if you like to play darts with an enthusiastic and fun-loving group of dart fanatics, check out the Cactus Moon’s ad for the lowdown.
