T-Town “Smack-Down”

T-Town “Smack-Down”

By Jennifer Wood
It felt like it was just yesterday when Dawsons headed down to Kent to battle Cloud 9 for The Mixed Memorial Cup and ultimately brought it home. But we were quickly reminded how time flies when we heard our next match would be against The Home Plate, also of Tacoma. This was going to prove to be a hell of a match, and both bars knew it. T-Town against T-Town, forget North vs. South, this was civil rivalry in South, and bragging rights for good ol’ Tacoma!

Kozy’s 3rd Annual Bullseye Boobies Shoot

Kozy’s 3rd Annual Bullseye Boobies Shoot

By Elizabeth Arquette
Butch and Judie, owners of the Kozy Tavern in Everett, have hosted a fun and successful Bullseyes For Boobies shoot every year for the past three years. This was also their annual Player Appreciation event. All the regulars showed up, plus a few new faces as well.
Every player that signed up to play in the tournament received a free Kozy Boobie T-shirt.
Meanwhile, Judie was busy barbequing tasty ribs and hotdogs out the back door, all in the name of breast cancer and it’s cure.

The Steel Tip Report

The Steel Tip Report

By Bob Ross, South Sound Darts Assn.
Nearly every Saturday night since March 20, The Home Plate Tavern in Tacoma has hosted steel-tip tournaments. We charge $8.00 and set aside $3.00 from every player every week. This reserve fund grew to $839.00, which went into the pot for the SuperShoot (along with $150.00 each from the league and the tavern). We extorted $20.00 from some lawyer, and Wisski added $1.00, making the total payout for one event $1160.00.

Novice Cup beatdown

Novice Cup beatdown

By Scott Kringle
Saturday, September 24 was a busy day Flights Pub in Everett when they hosted not just the Novice Cup, but also the Players Cup, a Texas Hold ‘Em tourney, plus the Huskies were sticking it to their opponents.
Challenging Flights today for their coveted 10-point Novice Cup was a group of first-time cup players representing the Scorecard Bar and Grill out of Seattle’s Northgate area, including Kristina Vonhaartman, Jessica Hester, Sarah Pickett, and Judy Hester. Every one of them were rated a Medalist 2. They would have their hands full today, because Flights team has been there, and done that. Mary Cowles, Sarah Moms, Suzanne Manville, and Holly Weaver came in as a 10-point team, and they had no intention of giving up their beloved Novice Cup.

Big money at the Inn

Big money at the Inn

By Ty Hughes
Saturday, September 17 was the first time the Inn Sportsbar had hosted a $1,000 Added. Sure, there were plenty of other tournaments going on, but they rolled the dice, took a chance, and pulled it off with flying colors.
Twenty-two teams came out to the Inn that Saturday night for the big-money dart shoot. Dart Coordinator, Ed Winkle, was busy keeping everyone busy. So many familiar faces filled the room. Dart “regulars” from the northend flooded the Inn, ordering food and drinks in massive amounts. Even Nico and his buddies traveled up from Seattle to join the action, hoping to walk away with some extra cash in their pockets.

Stars owns Fridays

Stars owns Fridays

By Ty Hughes
Five Medalist Avanti dartboards and no waiting at Stars in Federal Way!
On Friday, September 9, Stars was as crowded as ever with dart players, pool players, karaoke singers, and general customers. Miles was taking Fall league sign ups, but it was slim pickins that night unfortunately.
In a concerted effort to lure dart teams for the upcoming 10-week season, Stars put out a nice hot dog bar for the players that night.

I was so excited when Teresa Hestkind asked me if I wanted to shoot with her for Cactus Moon’s 2nd $750 Added shoot in the same day!

Hot Shot Cup teams tested

Hot Shot Cup teams tested

By Jennifer Wood
There’s nothing better than a cold beer, a fat juicy cheeseburger, and oh yeah, a Challenge Cup match on a Saturday afternoon. Dawson’s Bar & Grill at 56th and South Tacoma Way was serving up all three on August 6. It was Hot Shot Cup time, boys and girls, and Dawson’s Allen and Aulton Dugan (the twins), Sue Dugan, along with Talya Soria were prepared to defend the very cup they just stole away from the Pickled Onion in July.

The good life at the MVPub

The good life at the MVPub

By Ty Hughes
The Puget Sound’s newest dart house is enjoying a fantastic response from local dart fans. The MVPub in Kenmore, located just off the beaten path, is not only attracting some of the Northend’s more prolific dart shooters, they’ve also had excellent success in gathering handfuls of first-timers.
