Women’s Cup anchored at the Inn Sportsbar
By Ed Winkle
Defending the Women’s Cup for their third time was The Inn Sports Bar, with Sandi Hinton, Jill Cates, Regina Weaver and Tabitha Hutton. A new line up and a brand new player in Tabitha Hutton (rated a 2). Up against The Pickled Onion, with Stacy, Susie, Trish, and Aimee, a solid team sent to unseat the Women’s Cup Champions.
The loss of Ann Counterman, a great lady with a great dart arm, and the new line up with Sandi up to a 7, and Jill up to a 5, a fresh new 2 in Tabitha Hutton, and Regina coming up to the third position, it was a brand new team, and a brand new defense for The Inn Sports Bar. Maybe these were all factors for the nerves the Inn suffered the first half of the matchup.
Firing off with the first win, the Pickled Onion ladies showed they were there to win. Back and forth rallies came from both sides as the Pickled Onion crew took the lead, and let the Inn girls suffer their first deficit in a defense, at 8-7, after a rally of three games. Tooth and nail both teams battled to 9-9, and as if the roar of their team cheer gave them renewed vigor the Inn sped ahead five games straight to 14-9, leaving the Pickled Onion in their devastating wake.
The match started off Stacy from the Pickled Onion overpowering, but Sandi kept her in check, and outlasted her for the match. And with Jill in constant form, the top heavy Inn team recaptured their Championship. Congratulations to Sandi, Jill, Regina, and Tabitha to a well played defense. And thanks and appreciation to the Pickled Onion for sending a fun and great team in Stacy, Susie, Trish, and Aimee.
