Novice Cup gets busy

By Maria Sabart
The Novice Cup match in late March was a wild rollercoaster ride between the Log Cabin, holders of the Novice Cup, and Dawsons.
Defending the Novice Cup was Gracie, Mike, Kelly and Marie, going head-to-head with Dawson’s team of Christina, Kim, Jenny and Talya.
Both teams were having a great time laughing, telling jokes, doing shots, and best of all, cheering on the opposite team.
Kelly hit a 3-In-A-Bed and the place exploded! Gracie and Talya were the queens of bullseyes all day long.
Dawson’s girls were throwing incredible darts, finally edging out the Log Cabin, 11-9, to take the match and the Novice Cup.
Two weeks later, on Saturday, April 9, Monte Carlo’s Greg Veitch, Lori Hanford, Steve Bell, and Amy Anderson traveled to Dawson’s Bar and Grill in Tacoma to challenge them for their newly acquired Novice Cup.
Having just wrestled the cup away from the Log Cabin, Dawson’s girls felt good about their chances.
It was a great battle, with all the Low Tons and Bullseyes from both sides, you would have never known this was the Novice Cup.
Monte Carlo started off with a bang, taking the first five of six games. Dawson’s answered by winning the next three in a row, bringing the score to 7-4, Monte Carlo.
Those Kent Valley players from Monte Carlo continued on their hot streak, and wouldn’t allow Dawson’s any power moves to take the lead. All four of their team members shot solid darts the entire match.
Dawson’s girls were able to keep the Singles games close, most coming down to a one-dart out. Whichever team could land that shot first would score the win.
Huge shout outs to Talya Soria from Dawson’s for hitting her first Hat Trick in game 12 to give Dawson’s the win.
Also, congrats to Steve from Monte Carlo for answering with is own Hat Trick in game 16 to snag another win for his own team. The final score was 11-9. Monte Carlo took the “huge” trophy and a little extra cash home to Kent to celebrate.
Thank you to both teams for a great match, a great day of competition, and the best sportsmanship ever! Congratulations to Monte Carlo on their victory.
