T-Town “Smack-Down”

By Jennifer Wood

It felt like it was just yesterday when Dawsons headed down to Kent to battle Cloud 9 for The Mixed Memorial Cup and ultimately brought it home. But we were quickly reminded how time flies when we heard our next match would be against The Home Plate, also of Tacoma. This was going to prove to be a hell of a match, and both bars knew it. T-Town against T-Town, forget North vs. South, this was civil rivalry in South, and bragging rights for good ol’ Tacoma!

Years of friendships among this group were evident by all the hugs and smiles when the match began. But don’t let that fool you, business is business with this group, and after the first dart was thrown, it was game on!

Jeff C. joined Dawson’s this time, with Kelly P., Bev R., and Jimmy H. Home Plate also showed up with the big dogs, Willy W., Jim T., Stacy G., and Lindia O.

Before we knew it, the darts were flying! It was a great match to watch, and Dawson’s took an early lead. The score after game 21, was Dawsons 14, Home Plate 7.

Of course, Home Plate wasn’t about to give up without a good fight, and came on strong with a five-game winning streak by the end of game 28.

Unfortunately, it was just too late for The Plate, as Dawson’s clinched the victory with a final score of 17 to 13 to stave off a tough team and maintain the Mixed Memorial Cup once again.

Thanks to the Home Plate crew for coming down, and congratulations to Dawson’s on another awesome win!
