Mixed Memorial Cup heads south
By Jennifer Wood
On Saturday August 8, 2011, myself and a few of the Dawson’s gang, including Kurtis, Kelly, Bev, and Jimmy headed north to Cloud 9 in search of the highly-coveted Mixed Memorial Cup.
We’d been anxiously awaiting our turn to take a shot at it, even showing up extra early, just as the bar opened. The staff was still cleaning up from a big Cloud 9 birthday party the night before. It looked like they definitely had a blast.
We were greeted with open arms, handshakes, and hugs all around by Cloud 9’s Mixed Memorial Cup team of Peter, Dave, Randi, and Yelena.
It turned out to be a very exciting match. Both teams were shooting well when Dawsons took the lead out of the gates in the beginning of the match, 9-4. But it didn’t take long for Cloud 9 to go on their own rampage to get right back in the race.
It wouldn’t be Cloud 9’s day afterall, and Dawsons took their newly-acquired Mixed Memorial Cup back to the bar in Tacoma after beating the Cloud 9 team, 17-14.
Shots all around, thanks to Kenny Bender, owner of Dawsons, and his players toasted another AWESOME cup challenge!
