Mixed Memorial Cup

By Tamra Easley

Sunday, July 26th Monte Carlo’s Mike Hobbs, Brenda Mitchell, Richard Baker and Jodi Patterson got together to contend for the Mixed Memorial Cup with Home Plate Tacoma’s Jim Tederman, Janis Baker, Willy Walker and Linda Owen.

This was Monte Carlo’s first defense and also the first cup ever won for this house. Home Plate was all amped up to play this match. They have a deep fondness for this cup. The last time they held it, it was for a little over 11 months, they were anxious to bring it back “home”.

Home Plate’s quest to recover the Mixed Memorial began with Jim stealing the opening game with a B, S17, T11 out. He followed that up with a 3-In-A-Bed (16s) in game 3. Guess he was feeling a little passionate about this match, though Brenda showed her own skills by hat tricking out of the game to get Monte Carlo on the board.

Linda stepped up and double-double bulled out of game 5. Jodi took game 9 out for M.C.’s second game. Willy hit the first T60 in game 12. Home Plate won this game for a comfortable 10-2 lead.

Ms. Janis or “The Goddess of the Universe” to us mere mortals, spent who knows how much in the dispenser in the ladies room. When she emerged, she had a stack of “pleasure products” lined up on the table like poker chips. She was sure she had at least one of every kind available in the dispenser, and viewing the size of that stack, she probably did. All the while, Homeplate tallied up game after game.

With the knowledge that Tony Stewart maintained the points lead, Richard’s darts came alive. He chalked up Monte Carlo’s next win. Home Plate held a gigantic 15-3 lead at this point, needing only two more games to attain their goal. M.C. proved to still have some fight left in them. They pulled off seven in a row and a much more respectable 17-12 before Home Plate put the match away, succeeding in their mission to return the Mixed Memorial to their possession.

Congrats you guys!
