Mixed Limited Cup dislodged from Dawson’s

By Tamra Easley
On Saturday, May 23rd, Dawson’s Frank Linskey, Stacy Gustafson, Buddy Marshall, and Jenny Wood went up against Jimmy Jack’s Mike Markezinis, Danielle Potts, Robert Ancog, Tammy Payne.
Dawson’s was the location to be on the Saturday afternoon of the first big party weekend of spring. The weather was gorgeous, proving to be the perfect backdrop for the Dawson’s double-header. The Limited Cup team was also playing on the next board.
After quite a few near misses at the master outs, Robert chalked up the first win with a 120 to end game ten and tie the match 5-all heading into the second set of team stacked games.
Jenny gave her team an incentive during game 13. If she hit a 6-count, everyone on the team was going to Outback for dinner. She didn’t hit it in that round, so the target goal for earning the dinner kept changing. Somehow, I think she just wanted to go to Outback. Robert earned a 3-In-The-Black in game 19.
The double J’s took four in a row, games 15-18, to regain the lead 10-8. Dawson’s pulled the cord, taking the next two games to go up in the match again. The final strokes of game 20 were masterful as in master out. Buddy took a 151 to tie the match in the same game, also hitting the first High Ton of the match, earning the big sexy out award! Not too bad for three darts. He also quietly unloaded a White Horse (T17, T20, T16) earlier in the match.
Dawson’s went on a three-game streak, giving themselves a bit of breathing room, but the reprieve was brief. Jimmy Jack’s rolled off three of their own to regain the lead, but only by a game. The Lawman, Buddy Marshall, took down game 30 with three shots (B, S9, B).
The match wound down to the final team 701 games. That was all Jimmy Jack’s needed – they put together two stellar ’01 games to usurp the trophy, ending Dawson’s reign of the Mixed Limited Cup after 14 months of domination, clearing the list of challengers twice during their tenure.
Way to go Jimmy Jack’s!
