Cactus Moon hangs onto the Mixed Limited Cup

By Scott Kringle

Cactus Moon said, “Come on down!” to Pickled Onion last month, insisting that they take them to task in a challenge to the death over the coveted Mixed Limited Cup. They took their challenge and drove up to Everett, meeting up with the champs.

Pickled Onion’s team was Kevin Barnas, now a 7-rated player; the loveable Trish Brown, now a 5; Dave Parkins, also rated a 5; and Johanna King, a 3 who didn’t even know she was on the team until two days before the shoot. Cactus Moon’s team was Corby Sloan, a strong 7; Shannon Livingston, a 3; Mark Hinton, who’s rated a 5; plus, the one and only Stephanie Stotesbery, a 4-rated player.

Trish figured today was a good day to implement her own special rules, playing ‘01 when it was supposed to be Cricket. Be sure to read and understand “Trishy” rules before your cups are played. The match went back and forth, but today it was all about Trish and her wackiness.

Nineteen games later, Cactus Moon was holding onto a 12-7 lead and going strong. Dave Parkins, for Pickled Onion was shooting in his first cup match, and performed quite well. He never showed any signs of frustration. And you all know how frustrating it can get.

Cactus Moon went on to win the match, putting a good Pickled Onion team on ice. With that said and done, the next Cactus Moon team to defend the Mixed Limited Cup will be different, Some of the players on the Cactus Moon team have rolled up, so the Cactus team will have a whole new look for it’s next challenge.  Great shooting!
