Cactus keeps Mixed Limited Challenge Cup
By Scott Kringle
The Mixed Limited Cup, owned and loved by four special Cactus Moon players was also put up for challenge on Saturday, January 21 along with four other Challenge Cups that day around town.
This was the first time in two months of challenging their Cup that JR Evans, Shannon Livingston, Brandon Weir, and Teresa Hestkind would actually play at the Cactus Moon rather than a neutral spot down the road. As one of the most popular bars in Everett, the Moon has large events scheduled back to back, making it impossible to throw in a Cup match sometimes.
Today they had the opportunity to play in-house for once, and their challengers were up from Kent’s Cloud 9; Josh Janson, Lindsay Jolley, Kenn Brainard, and Yelena Husman. The score shot out to 6-3, in favor of Cloud 9, when suddenly out of the blue, Cactus Moon grabbed 10 consecutive wins and took a commanding 12-6 lead.
The Hot Shot Cup was being played just a few boards away, so the Cactus Moon was chock full of dart supporters for all four teams.
Cloud 9’s Josh had lost power at home due to the snow storm, and had to stay at a hotel in the meantime. Unfortunately, he left his darts at home, and had to improvise using darts he was not familiar with.
Cactus Moon won this one going away, with a dominating 17-11 win over Cloud 9. Best of luck to the next team to challenge this Mixed Limited Cup team from Cactus Moon, they’re awfully tough.
