Hot Shot Cup on the attack

By Scott Kringle

Saturday, January 21st was the first time ever that the Hot Shot Cup Challenge was played and defended at the Cactus Moon Saloon, Everett, WA.

Pied Piper’s Tori Rillera, Shawn Shirley, Zach Turnbaugh, and Dawn Gonser traveled I-5 North from Kent to challenge Cactus Moon’s Tannon Rochelean, Dan Mingo, Aaron Ross, and Jae Rocheleau. Jae enjoyed a family reunion when his Mom and Dad, Michael and Donna Gates, his Brother Joel, and wife Carla Nunez, who has one in the oven, came out to cheer on their champ.

The Hot Shot Cup, like the others is a race to seventeen wins, and typically runs over four hours to complete the match. Today, it would go to a staggering five and a half hours of solid dart competition.

Still tied up after 26 games, this match was an all-day rally back and forth, with each team trading darts, tit for tat. Suddenly, like flipping on a light switch, the Cactus Moon team had finally had enough. Together, they pulled out the next four wins in a row to rise above their competition and win the match 17-13. A well-built Hot Shot team from Cactus Moon is on the prowl, best of luck to the next challengers.

Thanks to Pied Piper for making the trip north and taking the Hot Shot Challenge!
