Hot Shot Cup

On Saturday, September 26, Wah Long’s Erik Iwata, Dave Murphy, Justin Hemphill and Jayleen Latimer played Cloud 9′s Tia Russo, Joe Senn, Yelena Husman and Lynsey Green for the Hot Shot Cup. This was Justin’s first cup challenge.

Cloud 9 wanted to win this cup in honor of their dearly departed friends, Rachel and Suk, who both played for Cloud 9 on previous challenge cup teams. Today, they brought their “A” game, winning the first five games before Wah Long even got on the scorecard. Or as Dave put it, “Someone lit a spark under my ass” for their first win.

Lynsey Double-Double-Bulled out of game seven, Jayleen Shanghai’d the 12s in game ten. This win swung the momentum in Wah Long’s favor for a short while, and they won three of the next four games to cut Cloud 9′s lead in half, 6-3.

Cloud 9 regained their stride in game ten. When the second set of team 701 games rolled around, Cloud 9 held a comfortable 10-3 lead. All together, they won eight more games before Wah Long ticked off their final win of the match. Cloud 9 secured the Hot Shot Cup three games later. Way to go guys!

The score doesn’t reveal the closeness of the games, but as we all know, he/she who hits the outs, wins the game.

Yelena is a gorgeous mother-to-be. And even though she’s shooting for two, her game hasn’t suffered one bit.

Cloud 9 would like to collectively commend Erik on his game play, “He shot very well against us”.
