Hot Shot Cup

Latitude 84′s Chunk, SeSe Thomas, Carlos Walker and Jenny Wood had their first defense of the Novice Cup on November 15. Their first challengers were from 13th Ave Pub, a team consisting of Jim Jolly, Rod Elmlund, Steve Matthews and Kristine Crawford. This was the first cup for all of the 13th Ave players.
Jenny is a new addition to the Latitude team though not to the cups. She is on the stalwart Mixed Limited for another location. Kristine was shooting for two. She and Joe (coordinator for 13th Ave), are expecting a bundle of joy – Kelsey Marie Mathis in February. Congratulations you two!
One of the many positives of darts in the Tacoma area is the close friendship and support the players hold for one another. Every challenge cup played has a strong group of supporters from the various houses throughout Tacoma.
13th Ave took the opening game, before Latitude came alive winning the next four games in a row to establish a early 4-1 cushion. After a tough battle for game six, Kristine dropped the final bull to give 13th Ave their second game, 4-2. Chunk earned the first sexy darts badge by taking out game seven with a Hat Trick. Carlos earned his style points with a 112 to take out game 10.
Ms. Jenny put her foot down and confiscated all of the cell phones of her teammates because they kept ringing, though this did not stop the team from enjoying themselves immensely, which after all is one of the objectives of darts, right?
Latitude rolled off eight more games in a row, but 13th Ave gave them a battle in each and every game. Their tenacity was rewarded in game 15 when they won and still got to go first via the three game rule.
These 5-and-unders were hot to trot all over the dart board this afternoon. Especially Chunk, he hit another Hattie out to end game 16 and send the match into the second half with a 13-3 lead. 13th Ave was nonplussed, vowing to mount one of the greatest comebacks in history. They made good on their promise by winning five in a row before Latitude woke up from their reverie to bring 13th Ave to heel, but not before the score charged to 13-8.
Latitude went on to take the next four games to secure their initial defense of the Hot Shot Cup.
