Close finish for 4×7 Cup

By Tamra Easley
Dawson’s Pat Farrell, Ron Clement, Anthony “Adot” Dotson and Alisa Cook invited Latitude 84′s Jim Hart, Grant Gilliam, Allen Kinney, and “Jay-Bird” Johnson to challenge them for the 4×7 Cup on Sunday, February 8th.
In their standard, efficient manner, Dawson’s rolled through game after game. Jim, quite the character, shanghai’d the 20s to open game seven with a strong resistance. Both teams were very low key.
Adot accused the lowly coordinator, yours truly, of stealing his mojo during the previous cup when they shot together. This coordinator humbly disagrees, she believes Ms. Alisa was holding said mojo hostage and using it for her own benefit because she was actually shooting. Further evidence of this heist was apparent when she hit a 117 out to end game 15.
Pat was put in a time out by Alisa in game 15, and wanted an early release for good behavior. He took out game 16 with a 4-Count for points and a Double Bull for the win.
Latitude was in every game, though the 12-4 score did not reflect as much when it came to the big picture. They turned the corner in game 17, when the outs starting swinging their way long enough to reduce that eight-game deficit to just one, winning nine of eleven games, including six in a row.
The mellow pace (or was it the mellow music?) seemed to have lulled Dawson’s into complacency. Whatever the reason, their reverie ended abruptly with the realization that Latitude had quietly crept back into this match, within just one game of tying the score, which had not happened since game two.
Alisa, faced with the loss of game 30 looming, stepped to the line and dropped five marks in the Bull to give her team a temporary respite. Latitude did win the game, sending the match into the final team 901 games. Dawson’s held a scant 16-14 lead, and won the last two to keep the 4×7 Cup home at Dawson’s.
Congrats on another win, guys!
