4×7 Cup wrangled away

By Tamra Easley
It was Saturday, October 17th, 2009 when Wah Long’s Chad Marlowe, Marlon Jones, Jason Dafoe and Will McClain played Dawson’s Pat Farrell, Ron Clement, Mikki Branstetter and A-Dot) for the 4×7 Cup. It would be Marlon’s very first cup challenge.
Dawson’s wanted this title badly. They brought three of the original members from the team that won the 4×7 Cup back in November 2008. Dawson’s had dominated the cup for seven months and nearly three full completions of the challenger’s list.
In their opening game, they proved how much they wanted to bring this one back home. They won handily, but not before Will hit his first T60, stating that he would be on them all day. Let the showboating begin.
After a sluggish opening game, Wah Long found their groove. True to his word, Will was on the High Tons, racking up his second and third T60s in game two.
Trading wins, the score was tied after the fourth game. It would be the last tie of the match. Dawson’s got busy, linking four games in a row, topped off with Ron’s stylish 107 out to end game eight.
Nonplussed, Wah Long huddled to hatch a game plan. They executed their plan over the next two games, reducing their deficit to 6-4. Reintroducing the game-tradeoff over four games, the two-game spread was still in place. Advantange Dawson’s 8-6.
Will hit his fourth T60 in game 12. Caught slipping, Wah Long dropped the next two games, sending the match into the second half with Dawson’s again up by four, 10-6. Will chalked up T60 number five during the fifteenth game, announcing that he would try to hit at least ten before the end of the match.
He opened game 17 with a traditional White Horse, the only of the match. Wah Long had caught fire, they finished the game in five quick rounds. Pat shot the only 9-Count (T17, T17, T16) of the match in game 18. Chad hitched up his britches and pulled out a big-boy Double-Double-Bull to end game 20. Marlon hit the highlight reel with his 100 (B, S20, D15) out of game 22 to bring the score closer, 12-10.
Christina wanted the record to show that she loves Patrick Farrell very much! Marci had the boys all liquored up, she had them playing Russian Roulette with her (you’ll have to get the rules from Marci herself). They should have known better than to drink with a professional.
All the while Dawson’s quietly kept plodding along ever closer to their goal. Ron dropped bomb after bomb. A-Dot and Mikki imposed their stealthy attacks from behind. They reached the hill after another steady performance in game 27.
Determined not to go down without a fight, Wah Long had a surge of energy highlighted by Chad’s Hat Trick out in game 28. They found one more stay of execution in game 29 before Dawson’s grace was repealed in game 30.
Pat loves you too Christina!
Congratulations y’all!
