TheMedallion.net Web poll resultsWill Medalist Parity leagues expand the player involvement and is it favorable? Yes (73) - 44% No (93) - 56% [166 votes total]
Comment Posted By: Soggybottom Posted On: Jan 3 Views: 55 Comments seems like everyone has an opinion about what Medalist should do to fix this or that. Why doesn't someone in the players ranks step up and suggest an alternative, ask if they can help make it better. Whiners, snivelers, and gripers will never like anything so why ask them. If there is someone out there doing a better job than medalist, why ain't you playing in that league?
Comment Posted By: jerbet Posted On: Dec 14 Views: 74 ranking the medalist style of ranking will never be valid because it is selective of the darts it counts and allows for sandbaggers to reap the benefits. count all the darts all the time is the way to have a true ranking.
Comment Posted By: duh Posted On: Oct 19 Views: 110 duh It says parity leagues, not tournies. Parity leagues expecially with the new state format will aid in finding and remove sandbaggers from the league!

Do you think it's a good idea to count all darts thrown when determining your rating? Yes (294) – 84% No (54) – 16% [348 votes tallied]
Comment Posted By: Make darts that hit count only Posted On: Sept 7 Views: 32 How to get the game we love fun again Why don't we make the soft-tip boards count only the darts that stick in the board, and not the ones that fall out and leave a score in the board when the dart hits the ground? This would take out the lucky darts a lot of us get beaten by! Yes I am a steel-tip player; but if you ask any steel-tip player – if the dart don't stick, it don't count. They call this the KISS method (KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID)! I do play both games and have had great success in both soft-tip and steel-tip darts, but I'm seeing a swing toward steel-tip because of the bounce-out rule. Oh, while I'm on a run – DARTS BEGIN AND END WITH A HANDSHAKE! Thank you for letting me vent my own frustration! Chris "Pineapple" Anderson
Comment Posted By: darts4fun Posted On: June 13 Views: 117 Polls We all know how we feel about how the ratings are done, and that no one likes a sandbagger (mind you, the definition of this is a person who INTENTIONALLY keeps their ratings down, according to Medalist standards – not a new player that is throwing better than what they were "averaged" or brought in as, and not a person that is having a good night once in a while). The focus of what is wrong with the sport is getting old; how about what's right with it?! Get a different poll question and a different response than "sandbaggers suck." If you don't like it, then don't do it and don't teach someone else how.
Comment Posted By: NOYB Posted On: May 31 Views: 135 New ratings/sandbaggers I have been playing for a long time in this league. There have been many changes over the years, all done in the interest of the players by Medalist. Although I have not agreed with some of the changes, I am still here and still playing the game – in league and in tournaments. Why? Because I enjoy the game!! I don't have to win every time I play; and yes, I get upset when there is a sandbagger or two in the bunch. But I am here to tell you, there have been sandbaggers in the game since it began, and there always will be. You need to make a choice – are you going to let it mess up your good time, or are you going to let it go and throw your next dart? TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY? Everyone would like to win money, of course! But you can't win all the time and you never will, so get over it!! Stop complaining – throw YOUR darts or stop playing . . . eventually all those sandbaggers WILL get what is coming to them; they always do. It may take a while, but what comes around goes around . . . the bad things you do will ALWAYS come back to bite you right in the ASS! So don't worry about the other guy/girl; worry about you, and be the best you can be – and most importantly – HAVE FUN That is what it's all about, after all!
Comment Posted By: PRO & CONS Posted On: May 23 Views: 118 Kleenex provided I've played against a lot of sandbaggers in my time, and they are out there in every sport. Come out and play your best, have some fun and hopefully take some money home. It's a choice; you can play or you can stay home . . . if you choose to play, then remember that every tournament has a sandbagger, a professional one or one that just had a great night. If you can't live with that, well, then, bring yourself some Kleenex because you will always be crying about an important part of the game – the unexpected.

Comment Posted By: The Overrated Bagger Posted On: Dec 19 Views: 313 Should all darts count? I'm not sure if all your darts should count. Maybe drop your very best and your very worst stat of the night, if it's over a standard deviation of 3, -3 or so. Some research would be needed to find the proper margin to drop, but it might help. Because if you don't play four times a week, you're going to have a more drastic learning curve and your consistency just isn't there. Counting every dart for an average player that plays once a week and aren't very consistent – two good nights of league makes you overrated, and two bad nights makes you a sandbagger. Whereas, if you are a good consistent player, maybe all your darts will count, because you won't be hitting that far out of your rating range in either direction? I'm new-ish (not that new) to darts; I only play one night a week (sometimes skipping a season), and I have been both a so-called sandbagger and dearly overrated. Let me tell you, neither one is fun to be.
Comment Posted By: The Mailman Posted On: Dec 22 Views: 733 Should all your darts count? Yes, all your darts should count. That will show your true skill level. But if you're a cheater and you're winning a game of cricket by a couple of numbers, you can easily drop your rating and win the game. Or someone is really bad in 01 and can't hit anything, but somehow usually can in the big out . . .? So maybe is it no, not all your darts should count? |
