Every so often, a guy comes around that sticks around. Adot stuck around and people love him. Adot's the coolest cat in Tacoma, just ask anyone. He's a super likeable guy who's been throwin' darts in Tacoma for a long time. Adot has a laid back and calm demeanor. People gravitate toward him. Hang around and get to know him a little better with us.

Q: Adot, how is it that you came to fall in love with our fine sport of darts?

A:
My friend Jimmy Allen worked at an establishment that had dartboards. While waiting for him, he suggested, I try them and did. I was unable to hit the bull and that became a challenge for me. From then on, I played the game and loved it more and more as I continued to get better.

Q: When was that?

A:
1990.

Q: How has the sport and/or the people changed since then?

A:
I don't think the sport itself has changed, but I do think the people have. Some players will do whatever it takes to get better and win.

Q: What changes would you make?

A:
None!

Q: What do you do when you're not throwing darts?

A:
Work, play games on the computer, build and repair computers, practice darts, watch boxing on the TV, play bingo, casino...etc.

Q: If you could choose one sport, indoor or outdoor, which would it be?

A:
Darts! Because it's a very challenging sport and no matter how good you become there's always someone out there that can give you a run for your money.

Q: Where do you see yourself in five years, both personally and with respect to darts?

A:
Hopefully obtaining the job position that I am pursuing and if I'm still playing darts to be rated in the top 10.

Q: Can you do a flip off the high dive?

A:
Only if I need to, but I have no desire to try. Who knows, someday I might just try it!

Q: Who's gonna be our next president?

A:
Ty!

Q: High tops or tank tops?

A:
To each his own, but I prefer Tank tops!

Q: Do you think there are too many sandbaggers in darts today?

A:
Yes! There are too many players that are consistently able to shoot over their rating.

Q: How would you correct that problem?

A:
I would have the In-house Tournament Coordinators rate certain players at the time of playing.

Q: Tell us about that fine, little lady at your side.

A:
Inquiring minds want to know!

Q: What is your current Medalist rating?

A:
MM11

Q: Are you trying to get better (y'know, at darts) and how?

A:
Yes. Practicing against better players like John Husman, Steve Arionus and Melvin Cherry.

Q: Who's been your all-time favorite dart partner?

A:
Jodi Durrance.

Q: Which location is your most favorite and why?

A:
I like all locations because you can meet a variety of people and each dart house has it's own distinct atmosphere.

Q: Do you enjoy shooting with female partners (careful, here)?

A:
Yes, because they challenge my game at times and I seem to shoot better when I play with females. Besides, they're easier on the eyes!

Q: How'd you do in Tacoma last month?

A:
I think I played pretty good, but we finished one out of the money in AAA Trios. My team played well, we just seemed to be out-matched.

Q: What's the highest you've ever placed in darts and when was that?

A:
1st at Worlds in 1993 with Snoop. 1st at State in 1993 with Snoop and Mike Green. 1st in the summer of 2003 at Ocean Shores with Mike Harris. 1st with Melvin Cherry and William Gray in 2003 State Tacoma. Plus a whole bunch of 2nd places.

Q: Who's your favorite Dart Coordinator?

A:
I have a few, including Dave McIvor, Steve Heyman and Chris Bennett.

Q: Do you read the Medallion religiously (careful, here)?

A:
Occasionally!

Q: Who's been your biggest influence in the game and why?

A:
Kurtis Beach, Melvin Cherry, John Husman, Rob Heckman and Steve Arionus. Kurtis, because he's inspirational no matter how I'm playing and because he always puts friends first, darts second! Melvin, because he thrives on winning and always tries to keep his partner's focus and intensity at a high level. Because he doesn't "sugar-coat" his opinion about how you're shooting. John, because he's a great guy, fun to shoot with and gives it his all. Rob, who always said, "Just throw your darts and don't worry about what everybody else thinks". Steve, because he's a great guy, he's good for the sport of darts and he's fun to practice with.

Thanks, Adot! Look forward to seeing you out and about.
