Player Profile: Lindsey Jolley
Lindsey, how and when did you ever get into darts? A little over 2 years ago. A friend of mine owned a bar in Renton and talked me into shooting, I didn't even want to but as soon as I got the hang of it, I was hooked.
You're a tough competitor, who taught you to throw like that? I've had help from a few people along the way, but I have to give most of the credit to Richard Baker. We shot one season together and I came out of it with a completely different style and strategy. He spent a lot of time working with me. He's a really good teacher and fun to be around if you can stomach his sense of humor.
What interests do you have outside of darts? Right now I'm a full time student and working part time, so I stay pretty busy, but I love to play softball and watch sports. I think I'm one of the few girls who watches Sports Center when I'm alone!
Brothers, sisters or other family in the area? I have one brother, three nephews and one niece in the area. I don't think most people realize that I have a big family; 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and 16 nieces and nephews.
Do they play darts too? Nope!
What do you love most about the game? I love that it brings in people from all walks of life. I've met so many interesting people that I may have never encountered otherwise.
What bothers you most about how the game is played? I hate when people take it too seriously. It's easy to get wrapped up in the competitiveness of the game - they forget to just have fun.
Who is your favorite dart partner? I don't have a particular favorite. I like to shoot with people who have a good time.
Where do you call your “home location” for darts? Cloud 9, they really know how to take care of their dart players.
What's the coolest place you've ever been? I haven't done much traveling but I love Laguna Beach , California . I lived there for a few years and just loved it.
What kind of music do you prefer? I like Hip Hop, Rap and Country.
Do you prefer home cookin' or eating out? There is nothing like a home cooked meal!
What was your rating when you started and what is it today? I started a one and will finish this season as a four.
Are you superstitious about your darts? No, but some of the superstitions that other dart players have crack me up; to each his own!
What is your greatest achievement so far? When Richard Baker, Chris Perkins, Tia Russo and I brought home the Mixed Memorial Cup last year. I shot really well that day.
Do you prefer leagues or tournaments? Tournaments. I like playing against different people.
What are your long term goals in the sport? I would eventually like to get my rating up and be able to shoot well consistently.
How do you feel about competing with higher-rated players? I used to get nervous shooting against the big boys, but now I prefer to competing against higher rated players. They raise the bar and it makes me shoot better.
Have you introduced any new players to the sport? Not yet.
If you could make any changes to the sport in general, what would you do? Stop the sandbagging! I would like to see ratings monitored during tournaments as well as league, it would help even the playing field.
