Hot Shot CupBy Scott Kringle The Hot Shot Cup was played once again Saturday, November 12. The cup holder was none other than the Pickled Onion, and the challenging team was a formidable one from Waldo's North. Both teams' players have been here before, and know the value and meaning of this cup. The challenging team from Waldo's consisted of Richard Stewart, Jen Hanft, Jen Firestone and Robbyn Rich. This is Waldo's third attempt to capture this cup using the same team. Together, they held the cup for many months consecutively a year ago. Lately, however, each time it came down to the 33rd and final game to confirm a winner, they'd fall just short. The Pickled Onion team brought the same sharp-shooting team that got them the cup in the first place; Frank Linsky, followed by Ryan Gibbs, Stacy Gustafson and rounding off the team with Sarah Sunde. The owner of Pickled Onion, Sean Erskine, puts up all the money for the cup shoots; the players' fees, the sponsor fees, and the Coordinators fees. “I have always paid all the fees,” Sean said. “That's one way I get players to shoot for my bar,” he went on to say. The match was like those we don't see that often with this cup. In the end, the Pickled Onion kept their cup by winning 17 to 6. Most of the time it takes all 33 games to get this match in. Nice job by the Pickled Onion team! Next up is Cloud 9 out of Kent . From the Pickled Onion in Renton , I'm Scott Kringle, “and that's the way the darts flew.” |
