SPECTATORS SPORTSBAR & GRILL, KENT, WA By Ty Hughes Brenda Mitchell walked right into a surprise birthday celebration on Saturday, June 7th, when her stud, Doug, orchestrated a gathering of close friends and family in her honor. Of course the advertised $1,000 Added dart shoot didn’t hurt to increase the turnout either. Doug had the place decked out with banners, balloons, streamers, free food, cake and the whole bit. He did a great job pulling the entire event together with all the trimmings. When she finally walked in, fashionably late, I might add, she seemed truly surprised at the realization that this was all on her behalf. Even her sister was on hand for the big reveal. Happy birthday, Brenda! Twenty one teams threw their hats in the ring to make a run at the prize money, bringing their best game. With a 25 point max, the teams were quite formidable to say the least. Pat Gorman was reunited with his old friends, John and Geri, who together made up the very first team to play for Wah Long way back when. Fast becoming a tradition at Spectators, we saw the likes of familiar faces out of Tacoma, Kent, Renton and Seattle. Coordinator, Mike Hobbs was busy keeping up with all the requests and activity as he managed the tournament charts. Spectators’ new owners, Julie and Randy continue to put together a winning lineup of jam-packed weekend and weekday darting events, all the while building the general patronage by way of upgrades and new installments.
