Cloud 9 remembers Rachael

Friends of Rachael Hurt gathered by the hundreds at Cloud 9 on Saturday, October 20, just two days after learning of her sudden passing late Thursday night.
Tears of shock and sadness swept the room as Rachael’s closest friends remembered her selfless and joyful attitude. Celebrating Rachael’s life brought fond memories and happy stories to the surface. Her closest friends said that she never had an ill word about anyone, ever - that she was so much fun to be with and so happy. Even Cloud 9 owner, Ike Jouhal, said that Rachael was a big part of their success and that she will definitely be missed.
Harley had created a large format signature card for people to chronicle their condolences to the family. There were photos of Rachael posted behind the bar with messages of love scrawled across them.
Rachael’s influence stretched far and wide among dart players. Wah Long Sportsbar in Burien and Stars Bar & Grill also held memorial events in her honor.
Cloud 9 welcomed dart players from every neighborhood on this very special night. Rick signed up 42 teams. The bar staff worked frantically to keep everyone content, dedicating all of their tips for the evening to go toward Rachel’s memorial fund. Ike was gracious enough to match half of all entry fees, creating an additional donation of $840 to the fund as well. At one point in the evening, to everyone’s amazement, Rachael’s mother came out to thank everyone for their support. It was a very touching moment for everyone in attendance.
Medalist has donated a brand new Spectrum Genesis dart board to be raffled off on December 1, 2007 with all the proceeds going toward Rachael’s family to help with the bills during this difficult time. At five dollars per raffle ticket, you can buy a bunch of them! What’s a brand new dart board worth to you? Besides, the money all goes toward such a great cause. We are deeply saddened by the loss of a beautiful friend in Rachael Hurt. We pray that she rest in peace and is always remembered for the amazing person that she was.
