NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS; LYNNWOOD, WA By Kelly Gries Happy birthday, Darrell! Friday, November 9, 2023 Friends and family gathered at None Of Your Business to wish Darrell Gausta a very happy 60th birthday. When we arrived, the bar was already jumpin’, the juke box blaring and Darrell was getting hugs left and right! Laurie, his wonderful wife, had tried to keep this a surprise from Darrell for as long as possible, but we knew when he saw the ad in this here rag, the jig would be up. Of course, upon seeing the ad, Darrell called me and said, “Now I know why you had Laurie approve the ad instead of me!” But he loved it anyway! We had a low-rated shoot that night and eight teams came out to play for the 200% added! First place took home $180! Not bad for eight teams. Before we started, I got on the speaker and asked everyone to sing Happy Birthday to Darrell. By the time the tournament started, there were close to 80 people there. After the song, a speech was asked for and all Darrell had to say was this, “After you hear that song 60 times, it gets a little old!” I asked Darrell how it felt to have so many people love him, to which he said “Scary!” Christina was working the bar with the wacky and wild Chris helping out as the tournament got underway. There were many seasoned players on hand as well as a few newcomers to the game. Everyone was in for a good time as the matches started. Now you have to understand that this isn’t just any bar. We are a little different! Instead of numbering our boards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, we refer to them as boards N, O, Y, B and !. So when I called the matches there was a little confusion as players tried to figure out where to go. The facial expressions were priceless when I called “Howdie and George to board exclamation point!” The match progressed nicely as everyone followed the “no smoking while in the middle of a match” rule. And there were some very tight games. I hope to never have to face Howdie and George in another game of Cricket ever again. 29 rounds? UGH! We were soon down to the final four with my incredibly patient partner, Jacob and I taking 4th to get our entry fee back. 3rd place went to Howdie and George who fought a hard battle against Kellie and Willie. Next up was Kellie and Willie against Terri and Woody for 1st place. It went all six games and when Terri took out the final game of ‘01, Willy shook her hand and said, “That was an $80 dollar dart! Nice job!” It was nice to see so many good sports on this night. These were the results: 1st Place: Woody and Terri; $180 We have tournaments on Friday and Saturday nights starting at 9:00 PM SHARP! Every Friday is our low-rated shoot with $200 added every time. Saturdays, also a 9:00 start time, but the tournament changes every week! We will always add at least 200% so the more players there are, the bigger the payout! So come down and get some great food and check us out! See ya real soon now, ya hear?
