DRAFT CHOICE; AUBURN, WA

Cricketmania Strikes
This popular tournament and great dart house is definitely worth the out-of-the-way drive to the outskirts of Auburn

By Ty Hughes

It takes a few extra minutes to get there, but once inside, Draft Choice is totally choice if you’re a dart player.
The winding road that leads from Highway 18 to Kent-Black Diamond Road will lull you with its beauty. Farms, rivers, streams, pastures and meadows fly by as you make your way to one of Auburn’s greatest dart houses ever built.
The Draft Choice has been in the dart business for eight years and they know how to run a successful program.
Chuck, the owner of Draft Choice, recently passed away, leaving the empire in the strong and capable hands of Marilyn, his wife. Marilyn surrounded herself with good help and keeps the place hum-min’.
Susie, the Dart Coordinator, took a stool next to Marilyn at the tournament sign up table on Saturday, May 14th. Phil was hard at work getting the chart together, anxious to get the ball rolling. He had the job of coaxing 21 teams through their extremely popular, monthly $500 Added Cricketmania shoot.
Everybody came out for this one, like it was the only bar in town. There were players from Tacoma, Puyallup and even Burien, some 30 miles away. The atmosphere was fun and loose.
It is always amazing how dart players can play together every week, two, three or four times, and still seem as though they haven’t seen each other for months. I guess they’re just real experienced at socializing.
Soon, the teams took to the boards like vultures and began the serious business of darts. And it’s serious business all right. Some of the game’s most talented players came out for this one, making the competition truly stiff.
Susie partnered up with Casey Joyce and shot some incredible darts all night long, however they were eventually outmanned by the following:

1st Place ($250): Chris and Justin
2nd Place ($180): Steve and Harley
3rd Place ($100): Brian and Brett
4th Place ($70): Susie and Casey
