Frani's kicks off a league program beginning and ending in fun.

Frani's is a restaurant and lounge located in the heart of Woodland, Washington. There's a nice restaurant in the front and a lounge in the back that appears to be half dedicated to supporting the football programs for Washington's two big teams: one side for the Huskies and the other for the Cougars. The lounge's built-in big screen is no doubt often dedicated to watching these teams battle it out for football glory.

Now, there's a new type of team action going on at Frani's. DART teams. Darts is fun, and fun is darts. Yes, the folks at Frani's had a great time playing in their first ever In-House Doubles Parity League. Frani's owner, Ron Stube, has 'em lining up to get in on the darting action.

Franis' first league boasted eight teams with the league season being seven weeks long. Between league fees and sponsorships provided by JetStar Games and Frani's themselves, the league would pay out $480, and everyone who played walked away with something.

Because the league was made up of all-new dart players, their ratings were adjusted mid-season according to their achievements through the first half, then again at the of league. The final standings for the league were as follows:

  • 1st Place (69 wins): Art & Steve - $80
  • 2nd Place (63 wins): Allen & Dave - $60
  • 3rd Place (54 wins): Kelly & Jay - $40
  • 4th Place (53 wins): Dale & Deon - $20
  • 5th Place (52 wins): Ron & Tony - $10
  • 6th Place (48 wins): Andi & Nikki - $10
  • 7th Place (42 wins): Jeff & Mark - $10
  • 8th Place (39 wins): Julie & Rhonda - $10

Then it was time to "grab your partner, and dosey doe!" Whoops, wrong event. Anyway, to finish the league there was: what else A Party!!!! On Saturday, May 8th, Frani's served up some great finger food and snacks for the players to enjoy during the season-finals tournament. The event was Blind Draw, Parity Points, Double elimination, and the teams played for the remaining $240 in prize money. Again, all the players (all teams) took home some cash.

First place in the double elimination tournament went to Scott, Jay and Mark - $100 (there were pinch hitters involved on this team); Second place finishers were Art and Nikki - $60.00; Third place went to Steve and Rhonda - $40.00, Fourth place didn't exist due to the pinch hitter situation; 5th/6th finishers were the teams of Julie and Jeff and Andy and Tony for $10 each; 7th/8th were Deon and Steve and Allen and Ron for $10.00 each. Congratulations to all and thanks to Ron for being the great host.

Everybody: players, fans, and spectators of this event are already singing up for the next in-house dart league. The next version will run throughout the summer. There are already 12 teams signed up to play on the two dart boards. In order to accommodate summer lifestyles, league matches will be scheduled amongst the teams as they see fit; they just have to be played during that particular league week.

So, if you find yourself in Woodland looking for a game of darts, stop by Frani's: Woodland's new darting hot spot. Chances are one of these darters would be up for a game!
