A Woman's Perspective
Blind draw tournaments are very popular in the world of darts. Blind draw simply means that anyone who pays the entry fee is allowed to play and have the chance to draw anyone as a partner. Being a woman who plays darts, these tournaments may be the most frustrating. The more people that play the bigger the payout, which makes more people want to play.
If women don't play in the thousand dollar tournaments, most would never be a thousand dollar tournament. It's not always about being a high rated shooter. We have all met some terrific shooters but no one hits every mark every time. Darts should present some challenge and having mixed partners should be part of the challenge.
There are many things in the dart world that both men and women are excluded from. The attitude from men should never exclude us from wanting to play. If it's about the draw then play the lottery.
Anyone who has paid their money is there to be competitive and have a good time. Maybe "we" are tired of hearing even a Masters level player has a bad night. Why does it seem that night always happens when their partner is a female?
This is the year 2006 and this chauvinistic attitude needs to stop. We understand there are more competitive times when the game is very serious but a blind draw is not that time.
