Mickey/Mac Memorial

On Saturday, February 11th, everyone came out to Big Daddy’s North to play in the Mickey/Mac Memorial Tournament. Though this event is called a memorial, it was truly a celebration to two great dart players. Memories of Mickey Frasier and Johnny McDaniels were shared and there were special shots throughout the day in honor of them.

Every year, there is usually someone in need of help to deal with a cancer-related illness, either financially or emotionally. However, when Dave Dilettoso of Suntrack Darts gave his moving kick-off speech, he noted that this is the first year that there wasn’t a dart player he was aware of who was in need of assistance!

Kim and Kelly did a great job running not just one, but two tournaments, with a total payout of over $1,300. Every entry fee of $6 included a $1 donation to the American Cancer Society and with the money raised from the silent auction, over $1,110 in all was donated!

There were many cool items, from poker chips to a slot machine. Some fierce bidding went on between Andy Watson and me for a really nice poker chip set in a cherry wood case. Of course, I won, but that was after I pushed Andy out of the way to place the last bid. Just kidding, there was no violence that I recall seeing (or participating in) at the auction table.

There was one item that started as a prize giveaway but there was so much demand for it, they decided to auction it off as the “Grand Prize”. Who would have known that a pair of boxing shorts with the words ‘I Love You This Big’ would have caused such a stir?

Unfortunately, there are not pictures of every team, as the tournaments overlapped and Big Daddy’s had a jam-packed schedule of events, including a Comedy Show, which caused me to miss some teams.

The first tournament had 26 players and a total payoff of $320. The winners were:

5th/6th place; Chuck & Dana and Lisa & Mike

The second tournament had 58 players with a total payoff of $1000. The winners were:

4th place; Pete L. & Brian
5th/6th place; Doug & Scott and Yanni & Jimmy Peck
7th/8th place; Leslie & Rich
