Masters League Banquet payout tops $1,800

By Mike Bates

What can be said about the Masters Banquet that hasnt already been expressed in this issue?

How about that besides the Arizona Open and Don Henson Classic, no tournament pays out more! No tournament adds more and no tournament has as many great players as the Masters Banquet tournament. The 34 brave souls who stayed and played the night of the banquet were well rewarded for their efforts.

In last place, we wont mention who it was other than that Brad Halley and Jerry Shasteen were out first. I am not saying they were last, but they may have been or they were definitely close. Anyway, they got their money back. Two and through for free and free food too.

Another thing to mention is that the top team on paper was Tom McCartney and Rick Breckenfelder; however, they finished fourth. They shot great and took fourth that is why you dont play the tournaments on paper, you throw your best game and battle it out. But you have to be there to battle.

In first place was Jimmy Damore and Joel Haines, another great team on paper. Second went to Bob Castillo and Mike Westling, they took out team after team all night. Another unlikely top three finisher was the squad of Troy Rabe and Jay Moredock. Yes, a solid Masters B player got real high up imagine that. With the outshot won by Rick Kerska and Anthony Johnson, the total payout was over $1,800, based on 34, I guess.

Throw in some great food, nice atmosphere and my comic input, we may have to call MasterCard cause it was definitely priceless. Great job shooting for those who stayed!

Sign-up for next season draft is January 16th at Sixshooters.
