Scottsdale Darts Takes First In State, Third Year Running
The Arizona Federation of Darts Association (AFDA) held the 17th Annual Arizona State Team and Singles Championship Tournament on February 27 and 28, 2004. The Tournament was hosted by the Scottsdale Darts Association, and sponsored by Sixshooters Billiards and Sports Bar and Corona.
Nine league teams from throughout the state participated in this round robin tournament in an attempt secure the traveling team trophy and bragging rights for the year 2005. Teams consist of four or five men, two or three ladies and the all important team captain. Each match consists of a team game, six singles matches, and three doubles matches, with 10 possible points per match. As if this dart marathon were not enough, seeded Men's and Ladies Singles Championships are held at the conclusion of team play. Winning for the third straight year was the team from Scottsdale Darts Association: Nick Rivera, Bill Green, Bill Egerer, Ray Gerber, Jimmy Demore, Ruth Williams, Janelle Nicholas, Lisa Yee and Captain Fred Ritschof. Overall team results: 1. Scottsdale Darts Association (Scottsdale) - 60 points 2. Southern AZ Darting Association (Tucson) - 59 points 3. Sierra Vista Darts Association (Sierra Vista) - 54 points 4. Central Arizona Dart League (Phoenix/Glendale) - 37 points 5. London Bridge Darts Association (Lake Havasu) - 37 points 6. Arizona Dart League (Phoenix) - 32 points 7. Mile Hi Darts Association (Prescott) - 30 points 8. Parker Area Dart League (Parker) - 27 points 9. Desert Dart league (Mesa/Tempe) - 24 points The Men's Singles Championship was won by Steve Hogan from the Southern Arizona Darting Association (Tucson). Lisa Yee from the Scottsdale Darts Association (Scottsdale), won the Ladies Singles Championship.
