Arizona Masters Storm Desert Classic
by Mike Bates

The 10th Annual California Desert Dart Classic was held recently in Laughlin, Nevada. Over 50 players from the Phoenix area were there for the fun and frolicking. Oh, yeah, the darts, too.

It is one of the more enjoyable tournaments to go to because you have time to play darts, gamble, party, gamble more, party more and play darts more. The league got back together during the weekend; that was special. We were banging trim, we flooded the hotel twice; we came prepared to have fun, and we did.

In the darts, Dart Master 101 (Rick Kerska and Denise Davis), battled Paul Paroski and Amy Bruno in the finals, with the Dart Master 101 team giving the lesson in the Masters Mixed Doubles.

How bout that all those California teams and two Arizona teams in the finals. Great shooting!

Barry Young and Janette Smith from Flagstaff also took first in level II Mixed. In Masters singles, our boys took six of the top eight spots, including Jimmy Damore taking second and Martin Bedoni placing fourth. Jimmy partnered with the Human Rain Delay (Jeff Loisel) to finish second in the Masters Doubles. Cowboy and Indian (Martin and Tom McCartney) and Chunks Blows Bubbles (Rick Kerska and Mike Bates) rounded out the top four.

In level 3B, Rick Pudjak and Tim Kuhbander took the gold and we saw some great shooting in level 4B from Tobins Bitches (Anne Moredock and Amy Bruno), which earned them fourth in a very tough bracket.

It was an outstanding time for all, and hopefully the tournament continues, as the rumor of its demise is spiraling. A huge thanks to S. California Darts and Arachnid, who are the main sponsors of the event.
