Rik’s Retreads take Masters

Captain Rik Scherbing may not have had his best season ever, but no one can argue with the choices he made at the draft. The team wasn’t the highest when it came to the final stats, but they were the best when it came to wins.

Led by Masters MVP Lonnie Malchow, the squad was the highest team in 501 and held on to win the league by one game over hard-charging Dean’s List.

Rick Breckinfelder continues to get his game back in place, and first time A player, Seth Rathbun, proved he can play with anyone in 01’. Top Gun and Captain Dean Sitzler looked like they would come all the way back and win the title, but fell one game short.

With Derek Walton and Jimmy Pack having great seasons, Jay Moredock would pull out some great wins. Mac’s Molesters fell one game short of the third spot and two out of the top spot. Schoen’s Smashers won eight straight weeks after a dismal start to take the fourth position.

It was a very competitive season, with seven of the eight teams finishing with over 100 wins and 15 games separating the top seven.

In the Masters B Division, Jeff’s Junkies out-distanced Barry’s Battalion to take home the crown. Capt. Jeff Dominianni had a lot of help with Mario Hernandez, David Hild and Randy Herbison. Barry Yohnka nearly had his team up to the task as they fell just short. Bill Thorpe, Ron Merrill and Mike Diveley rounded out the second place team.

The draft for next season will be held January 22 at Stinger’s. This season looks to be one of the best, with the NDA championships right around the corner. Don’t forget to get signed up!
